Myofascial Release Therapy

Achieve Optimal Flexibility

Aaron Mattes’ myofascial release technique, which also incorporates Active Isolated Stretching, uses active movement and reciprocal inhibition to achieve optimal flexibility. Using a 2.0 second stretch has proven to be the key in avoiding reflexive contraction of the antagonistic muscle. Without activating muscle group contraction, restoration of full range of motion and flexibility can be successfully achieved.

The body is covered in a continuous three-dementional web from head to toe called fascia. This tough connective tissue can be compromised and restricted by trauma, posture or inflammation which causes a binding down putting pressure on nerves, muscles, blood vessels, osseous structures and/or organs. Myofascial technique consists of gentle application of sustained pressure into the fascial restriction which allows the viscoelastic tissue to elongate and release restriction in the body. Myofascial release helps improve back pain, cervical pain, headaches, fibromyalgia, head trauma, carpel tunnel, scoliosis, restricted motion and more.

What can I expect?

Practitioner evaluates your body posture to access fascial restrictions for course of treatment. The myofascial release technique consists of firm application of sustained pressure into the fascial restriction for approximately 1-5 minutes for each technique. Several applications to different regions of the body are applied to elongate and release the restriction noted from the evaluation.
